Critic loves Showtime

Chuck Barney, aka the Bay Area critic “TV Freak” named Showtime the best of the cable networks in his rundown of 2007. Here’s what he had to say:

Showtime showed us the quality with Weeds, Dexter, The Tudors, Brotherhood and more, and, in the process, proved it is no longer a poor stepchild to HBO.

I bristled a little at the “poor stepchild” reference, but this is a guy who panned Bionic Woman and loved Jim and Pam on The Office, so he’s clearly trustworthy.
