Showtime stars interview roundup

by jill on February 1st, 2008

Happy Friday, everyone! In case you missed ‘em, several Showtime stars have been doing press for their latest shows. Here’s who’s talking:

Jennifer Beals doesn’t reveal many details about the TiBette storyline, but we do learn from her interview with the Washington Post’s Express that Bette will be “sorting out her love life” this season. Beals also talks about how she makes her love scenes believable, what designers she’s most comfortable wearing on the red carpet (Alberta Ferretti and Diane von Furstenberg), and how she prepares for triathalons.

Tracey Ullman gives a brief interview with USA Weekend (I found this piece via a new fan blog, Tracey Ullman: The Expatriate Mimic). Ullman doesn’t say whom she’ll skewer on State of the Union, but she dishes about her 2006 citizenship ceremony and reveals that she’s addicted to “crappy shows” like HGTV’s House Hunters and The Knife Collectors Show, which airs on satellite TV. Whether she’s serious or not, we’ll never know!

Ira Glass talks radio, TV and more with alt paper Style Weekly. Before the interview, he and producers were weeding through 30 story pitches to come up with four to turn into radio spots. Apparently This American Life records up to 40 hours of reported material for each 20 minute segment. As Glass says of his radio, TV and podcast enterprises, “It’s both exciting and, you know, a dreadful amount of work.” I love that he can say “dreadful” and not sound like a poser.
