Dexter edited for CBS
February 14, 2008 by Jillian Cohan
My fears of a truly watered-down Dexter airing on CBS this Sunday have been alleviated. The network released a few clips of edited scenes and it appears to be mostly minor trims to cut back on blood and adult language (Deb’s vocabulary will be vastly reduced, for certain).
Curious about the cleaner Dexter? Take a look at this scene:

The best that this can do, is draw more viewers over to Showtime. The only fear I’ve ever had, is that this show will be a ratings success on network, and then they’ll try to get it to become a network show, instead of cable. Now, I’m sure they love their freedom for content, but money talks. I hope Showtime could intervene, and perhaps they own the rights to the show. I just don’t it to be sold. The best thing? Get in, get out, and back to cable!
The BET/Wire experiment didn’t work and I’m hoping that the same will be true for Dexter. I’d rather its CBS debut gain more fans for Showtime, or more iTunes downloads of the full seasons, than see the show paired with CSI and marketed as merely a cop procedural.
