The Tudors wins tons of awards — in Ireland
In good news for The Tudors, the series scored seven awards at the Irish Television and Film Awards ceremony yesterday. The series won for best drama series. Jonathan Rhys Meyers — looking eerily wide-eyed and eliciting a snarky mention on A Socialite’s Life — won for best TV actor in a drama
Maria Doyle Kennedy, who plays Queen Catherine, and Nick Dunning, who plays Sir Thomas Boleyn, won awards for best supporting actress and actor. The show picked up another three awards at the Dublin ceremony — costume design, production design and hair/makeup.
Also in attendance: Soon-to-be Tudors co-star Sarah Bolger, they young actress who’ll play Princess Mary in Season 2. Sarah, who’s currently sharing the big screen with Mary-Louise Parker in the kid adventure flick The Spiderwick Chronicles, is a native of Ireland and the Emerald Isle’s next hope of launching a female Hollywood star on par with Jonathan or Gabriel Byrne, who took home a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony.

I’m thrilled that Jonathan Rhys Meyers won! He certainly deserves it. And I think he looks very handsome as usual. Don’t be a hater just because they are, Showtimefan.
