Spitzer scandal won’t affect Secret Diary of a Call Girl premiere

Showtime doesn’t plan to move up its June 16 premiere date for Secret Diary of a Call Girl to capitalize on the buzz about the world’s oldest profession that was generated by the Eliot Spitzer scandal, a network spokesperson told the New York Daily News today. Too bad, ’cause the trailer of the British import looks amazing — very sexy and smart.

By the time Season 2 rolls around, star Billie Piper said the show may remind viewers of Spitzer’s fall from grace: “one of the story threads is about a politician who sees a high-class hooker.”
