Ask and we shall receive: The Tudors renewed for third season!
Looks like we’ll still get to hang with Henry after Anne loses her head. Showtime just announced that it’s renewed The Tudors for a third season, with Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the throne again as Henry VII.
The network originally didn’t plan to run The Tudors past Anne’s beheading, which comes late in Season 2. But fan and critical pleas apparently fell on receptive ears.
“The Tudors is now a fixture for us at Showtime and we’re on our way to completing the entire saga of all six wives of Henry VIII,” entertainment president Bob Greenblatt said, announcing the deal.
Those of you who voted for the full six-wives story arc in our Showtimefan poll, commence to gloating. You outnumbered other voters two to one and predicted the future!
Filming for Season 3 starts June 16 in Dublin. The 2009 air date has not been released yet.
