State of the Union renewed for second season
Showtime’s still laughing with Tracey Ullman and will into next year. The first season of State of the Union bowed on Sunday, but Showtime execs have ordered a second, seven-episode, season for 2009, Variety reports.
British comics apparently are the hot thing at the network, as entertainment president Bob Greenblatt just signed Marc Wooten, a BBC talent, to develop a six-episode series on the basis of his reputation alone. Calling Wooten “the new Sasha Baron Cohen,” Greenblatt charged him with creating an alt comedy wherein the characters he develops will interact with real people. No word yet on when it will debut.
