Weeds recap: Season 4, episode 7
“Yes, I can”
It’s morning at the Botwin residence and Nancy’s about to shower. Andy, naked, cuts ahead of her. Doug, shirtless and drooling, is asleep on the couch. When Nancy goes by in a huff he has a suggestion: “Do you need sex? It’ll help you relax.” He’d of course be happy to whip out his johnson and do the honors.
No such luck. Nancy says she’s fed up with the frat-boy feel of the house. She wants to remodel to get her own bathroom. Silas chimes in, saying he wants his own room. He’s tired of Shane shaking the bunk bed at night “scratching his fleas.” They do a quick estimate and decide they need several grand to do the remodel, even without a contractor. Shane volunteers to spearhead the project.
Nancy meets with Sanjay and Clinique, who has now given birth to a baby she swears is his (it looks months older than the infant she says it is). Sanjay signs on to move 100 pounds of weed in the Valley. Next Nance enlists Lupita, who figures she can sell to her new housekeeping client, a Hollywood agent. After that Marvin comes by, bragging about having lost 10 pounds, and she convinces him to sell for her too.
Celia takes Isabelle drug shopping across the border. Isabelle wants to know where they’ll live when her dad’s FEMA money runs out. Celia says she’s has a job. Isabelle, too smart for her own good, figures retail isn’t enough for Celia to afford her own place and asks if the maternity store is a drug front. Celia tells her to shut up and go get a taco.
Nancy tells Guillermo she wants her own product to move. He tells her she’s not in the drug business anymore, but she won’t listen.
Andy, inspired by his new business plan, takes Doug to do research. They find a bunch of day laborers at a hardware store and explain they’re looking into the coyote business. Of course, when they say “immigration,” the guys scatter, thinking Andy and Doug are the feds.
Silas goes to see Lisa at the cheese shop. She notices that he’s sweating. He says he walked. She jokes with him about not having a car. He tells her he turns 18 soon, as he pulls the shades down. She says he’s so young and reminds him she has a 10-year-old son. He pulls her close into a kiss and soon they’re about to have sex on one of the cutting board counters.
Nancy goes to the mechanic shop to bully Cesar into getting her a meeting with Esteban. He tries to scare her out of the idea, but she won’t back down.
Andy and Doug chat with immigrants about the coyote business. They bring a few guys back to the house, offer them muffaletta and pick their brains. Claudio, who once was the transportation administrator in Colombia, tells them the Minutemen are what they need to look out for, more than the border patrol. Doug promptly volunteers as a cover.
Shane comes home with Isabelle to plan the bathroom remodel. He sees Andy’s new friends and freaks out. “If you’re trying to snag this remodeling contract out from under me, I’ll ruin you,” he yells. Claudio calms him down and they decide this could be a win-win situation.
Nancy listens to the mayor speak at the ribbon cutting for a new mobile medical clinic.
Celia shows up to meet Roy Till at the DEA building, taking the pills she got at the Mexican pharmacy while she waits. He tells her all charges against her have been dropped. She asks him out, but he says no thanks because he’s seeing someone.
After the rally, Nancy waits for Esteban in his car. She does a cutesy rundown of his bio, just like he did to her the episode before. Then she makes her pitch to get a cut of the mota action. She says Guillermo won’t cut her in because she didn’t go through proper channnels. Esteban asks if she thinks she should be punished. She says yes, but by him, not by Guillermo. He flips her over his knee, whips up her dress and spanks her — hard.
Back at the house, Shane’s getting the remodel rundown from the expert. Isabelle, sitting on his bed, opens the book where he’s stashed his naughty pictures — the ones Andy was talking about with Nancy in a bowler hat and nothing else. Shane’s all embarrassed and snatches it away.
Nancy gets home and asks why Shane is hiding a book about Sammy Davis Jr. He and Isabelle mutter some lame excuse and Nancy’s too tired to push it. She sets her sore ass down gently, looking exhausted. Apparently a spanking is taxing.
Doug goes to volunteer with the Minutemen border patrol. He talks a good closed-border talk. He’ll start that night.
Sex/love/lust montage follows:
In the cheese shop, Silas is on his knees, pleasuring Lisa.
Doug’s at the border with the Minuteman, watching for illegals while Doug gazes at the photo of Maria on his phone.
DEA agent Till is in bed, with the new person he’s seeing — the tall, thin, male agent who arrested Celia.
Nancy looks at the red hand mark on her ass and smiles, thinking of Esteban.
Shane lies in his bunk bed and looks at the old naked pictures of Nancy. We see the top bunk start to shake.
End montage.
Nancy’s by herself at the store when Guillermo shows up with duffel bags full of weed. He doesn’t speak to her, since he’s mad she went to his boss. “It’s just business,” she says, as he walks out.

Robby,
I don’t know the band off the top of my head but here’s a suggestion: Visit this Web site, http://www.sho.com/site/video/brightcove/audio/home.do?bcpid=1329229918 Showtime posts audio clips of the Weeds soundtrack songs, including Season 4. They’ve only posted through episode 6 so far, but e7 should be up soon.
