Showtime’s Bon Jovi documentary rocks!
September 25, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Bon Jovi has been rocking for more than 25 years, but no one has managed to capture the band’s story on film until now. Next month, Showtime will premiere the first-ever Bon Jovi documentary. The film, When We Were Beautiful, debuts October 24. It was shot on the road and behind the scenes during the band’s 2008 Lost Highway world tour (yes, ladies, that is cutie patootie Jon Bon Jovi warming up the crowd at the tour stop in Dublin, Ireland).

The doc weaves together interviews with band members Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres and live footage from the tour to reveal how the band transformed from a bunch of Jersey boys into one of the most successful rock acts in the world.
“Throughout the process of working with Bon Jovi, I was amazed at the candor and humility Jon and his band showed me,” director Phil Griffin said in Showtime’s announcement of the project.
Because the band gave him such good access, Griffin said, the movie is more than your standard concert film. “(It’s) about the peace of Tico, the complexity of Richie, the drive of Jon and the brutal honesty of Dave,” he said.
Along with the doc, Harper Collins is publishing a book by the same name, to be released October 27. The band also has a new album, The Circle, that drops on November 10.

i’m eagerly waiting for this documentary to be out on DVD..the title seems to mean when they were younger i suppose.but if they’r only going to show the lost highway concert footage i’m going to be very dissappointed..some fans will be. i mean so many bands have released documentaries which show their past performances.i hope Bon jovi will finally release a documentary which will show them performing when they were young and in their prime.all the fans have are bootlegs of their old footage.
