Do celebs influence national politics? Showtime doc finds out

October 25, 2009 by Jillian Cohan

If it feels like a looooong time since we were consumed by Palin’s wardrobe choices and Obama’s trips to Five Guys, Showtime has a show on tap that will make politics relevant again — and interesting even to the non-politicos out there.

In a new documentary, Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson sets out to examine the role celebs play in national politics. He weaves together interviews with regular folks and clips of cause-championing stars including Susan Sarandon and Anne Hathaway, who explain to viewers why they think celebrity advocacy is important.

Here’s the trailer, Showtime Fans. Poliwood premieres Nov.2.
