The L Word’s Marlee Matlin returns to Showtime in new comedy

Awesome news for L Word fans: series alum Marlee Matlin is coming back to Showtime.
The Oscar-winning actress will star in a new comedy series about a high-powered law firm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, called Mouthpiece, reunites Matlin with writer Carol Leifer, whose career-defining Seinfeld episode “Lip Reader” starred Matlin.
The half-hour Showtime comedy will be produced by Fox TV Studios and co-stars Mario Cantone, who we loved as Charlotte’s pal Anthony on Sex and the City.
Matlin and Cantone came up with the idea for the show and pitched it to Leifer, who knew both of them from previous projects.

L Word star Marlee Matlin releases new book, gets star on Hollywood walk of fame

It’s been a busy few weeks for Marlee Matlin. The L Word alumna recently released her new book, “I’ll Scream Later,” and has been touring the country giving readings about what her life has been like after losing her hearing when she was 18 months old.
The Oscar winner and multiple Emmy nominee also has two big honors coming up next week: On May 6 she’ll get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the day after the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation honors her with the Mary Pickford Award at its Women of Distinction luncheon.

L Word cast bids adieu at swanky LA event

The L Word’s finale airs in just a few days and the cast was out in force Tuesday to celebrate. Entertainment Weekly hosted a red carpet farewell event for the show at Café La Bohème in West Hollywood.
The crowd included many of the show regulars, including Rose Rollins, Mia Kirshner, Daniela Sea, Kate Moenning, Laurel Holloman and Marlee Matlin. Californication’s Evan Handler also stopped by, along with L Word alums Eric Roberts and Janina Gavankar.
