Beals will continue in a recurring role as Assistant U.S. Attorney Zoe Landau, Cal Lightman’s (Tim Roth) ex-wife and mother of their teenage daughter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While working on a case together, Zoe and Cal discover they still have feelings for each other, AceShowbiz reports.

In the season finale, Zoe helps Lightman with an investigation and both are concerned about their daughter’s safety.

The second season of Lie to Me debuts Sept. 28 on Fox.

That might be because she’s been a fan of the series for years.

“Somehow, they make very fantastical things seem very mundane and commonplace, which I love,” she told USA Today.

Morissette cruised through viewings of previous seasons, watching them on her bus while on tour. She then sought a meeting with Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, who she ultimately convinced to cast her as OB/GYN Audra Kitson.

“Nancy is in a pickle, and Audra helps her outside of what typically would be allowed in a hospital,” Morissette said. From there, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump into all of the family’s drama — and into Andy’s bed.

While her songs won’t appear on the show (licensing costs a lot of CA$H) the Canadian singer-songwriter/actress said she’s likely to follow the muse musically and theatrically.

“I never think in terms of having to pick between two forms of expression,” she said. “I do the one that calls me the most.”

On tonight’s episode of Nurse Jackie, the All Saint’s staff continues to work its magic with patients, whether it’s kosher or not:

• After Dr. Cooper nearly blows it, Jackie and Zoey speak to a young girl whose mother suffers from lupus. Jackie bonds with the 10-year-old girl, who is the main caregiver for her mother, and later breaks hospital rules to try to help her family.
• Mrs. Akalitus has an incident involving a stun gun.
• After Zoey works her first night shift, Dr. O’Hara takes her out to dinner as a reward. O’Hara is mortified by Zoey’s wide-eyed behavior — until Zoey reveals an astounding secret about her family.

Tonight marks the Weeds debut of Alanis Morissette, who plays Nancy’s OB/GYN. Here’s what to expect:

• Shane, determined to get his pot back from his teacher, Mr. Sandusky, enlists the help of Ignacio.
• Nancy visits her obstetrician, Dr. Audra Kitson, to discuss the possibility of aborting the baby.
• Silas and Doug visit a pot agent called ‘The Wizard“ to supply their medical marijuana dispensary.
• Nancy discovers that Celia has been secretly living in the garage. She gives Celia 48 hours to leave — and to stay out of her life for good.
• To keep his promise to Margaret, the bank teller, and to enrich himself out of Judah’s old bank account, Andy recreates the first date she and Judah went on in the ’80s, and pretends to be Judah.

The way Duchovny’s handling the separation seems much more mature than how Hank Moody deals with his ex on Californication, but comments DD made recently seem to draw parallels between the actor and his character:

“There’s this heart in the show that he’s truly in love with this one woman and that he’s a good parent, in a really horrible way. These are paradoxes that I thought were mature,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “This was more adult, more articulate, less of a man-boy and more of a man. Comedy for grown-ups, starring a grown-up.”

Sad news, friends. Though we long suspected it, the official word is now in: Brotherhood’s third season was its last on Showtime.

The brutal and gritty tale of the Caffee family’s adventures in Providence seemed to wrap up with Season 3, but the network today told E!’s Kristin Dos Santos that there will be no Season 4.

In September, Brotherhood star Ethan Embry hinted that the show was headed for cancellation.

“I’m kind of getting the feeling that they might end it this year and wrap up loose ends,” he said, “but if everyone starts realizing what a great show it is and starts watching, they’d probably squeeze a couple more out.”

Sadly, that’s not the case. But the DVD of Season 3 is expected to drop on Sept. 22.
