The cutting room: Bob Greenblatt trims Dexter for CBS

Los Angeles Times reporter Lynn Smith got access to Showtime programming VP Bob Greenblatt while he was editing Season 1 of Dexter for its Feb. 17 premiere on CBS. The resulting story is even more revealing than the edited clips the network has released to the media.
Greenblatt, a former producer, handled the cuts personally because of the writers strike. Dexter edited for CBS

My fears of a truly watered-down Dexter airing on CBS this Sunday have been alleviated. The network released a few clips of edited scenes and it appears to be mostly minor trims to cut back on blood and adult language (Deb’s vocabulary will be vastly reduced, for certain).
