Californication’s Eva Amurri beats Halle Berry, Salma Hayek and other hotties to earn ‘best nude scene of the decade’
December 23, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
In these things we are not experts, but Mr. Skin knows his nudity. The blogger whose site chronicles all things naked in Hollywood has crowned Californication’s Eva Amurri as the best of the best, putting her nude scene above all others in his “Top 10 Nude Scenes of the Decade.”
We’re a (semi)family-friendly blog, so we can’t show the clip of Ms. Amurri’s winning moment here, but as you can see, she’s voluptuous even with clothes on.
“It’s a testament to how far television’s come this decade that the top spot would be taken by a nudecomer on a TV show,” Mr. …read more
Californication’s Eva Amurri guests on How I Met Your Mother
November 17, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
If you’re a Showtime and CBS viewer, you probably got an unexpected treat this Sunday and Monday: Back-to-back viewings of actress Eva Amurri.
On Californication, Amurri’s character is a self-actualized stripper/college student who’s unwilling to let Professor Hank Moody end their relationship. This week her antics with her coworkers brought much hilarity (and much nudity) to the series.
On CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, Amurri’s guest appearance was much more demure.
She played Shelly, a teacher and co-worker of Lily’s who was about to be set up with the perennially single Ted (a blind date three years in the making). She instead …read more
A little T&A for your Friday, thanks to Californication guest star Rick Springfield
October 30, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Who says 60 can’t be smokin’? Certainly not the Showtime folks who approved casting rocker Rick Springfield as a buddy for Hank Moody on this season of Californication.
Check out this report of Springfield’s antics earlier this week, at a performance in Montgomery, Ala.:
The Australian-born Springfield has performed for millions of fans over the last three decades and he entertained hundreds … with hits like “Jessie’s Girl,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” and “Human Touch,” and songs from his 2008 CD, “Venus in Overdrive.”
The 60-year-old singer/songwriter also mentioned his recurring role on the Showtime hit, Californication, and the fact that he …read more
Showtime’s best online extra EVER: Pam Adlon’s video diary from Californication
October 28, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
OMG. Californication fans, you must watch these videos. Showtime’s PR department had the genius decision to set actress Pamela Adlon up with a videophone and send her out to film behind-the-scenes footage on set.
As Adlon tools around the studio, she’ll introduce you to the props department, the rubber band guy, the head of the costume department and other key personnel. Adlon is quite funny in her scripted role as long-suffering wife Marcy Runkle, but her improv skills are in fine form for the video diary. Take a look at Video No. 1:
Video No. 2, in which Adlon and the …read more
David Duchovny interview: The star talks about Californication, writers block and a third X-Files movie
October 21, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Interviews with Californication star David Duchovny always seem to bounce from the sacred to the profane in about two steps.
The Yale-educated star often laces esoteric academic language with f-bombs and graphic sexual imagery. His recent chat with The Daily Beast was no exception.
DD dropped observations like this one, about how critical society is:
“We all participate daily in this shaming of the exiles and deifying of the leaders. We care about perception because we’re all utilizing human consciousness; we aren’t loners—we don’t live alone as animals—so it’s written into our genes in a way.”
Duchovny went on to say that the rare …read more
Susan Sarandon supports her daughter’s nude scenes on Californication
October 13, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Eva Amurri’s college-student character on Californication seems to know exactly what she wants: she’s a talented writer, but plans to go into business school instead of being a starving artist. She’s got a gorgeous body, which she won’t waste on frat boys. The student/stripper instead seduces professor Hank Moody in her nine-episode arc on the naughty Showtime comedy.
Amurri, the 24-year-old daughter of actress Susan Sarandon and Italian film director Franco Amurri, recently told The New York Post that stripping is harder than it looks, but that co-star David Duchovny made her “really comfortable.”
In the Post interview, Amurri said she …read more
Showtime renews Californication for a fourth season
October 5, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Little more than a week after Season 3 of Californication premiered to record-breaking numbers, Showtime announced today that it wants more of David Duchovny and the rest of the cast from the raunchy comedy.
The network’s president of entertainment, Bob Greenblatt, said Showtime expects to air a 12-episode fourth season in 2010.
Season 3 opened with viewership up by 57 percent from Season 2 (the lead-in from a record-breaking Dexter premiere sure didn’t hurt).
So far, just two episodes into Season 3, Hank’s already knocked a teetotaling professor off the wagon, offended the dean at the university that’s hired him to teach creative writing, …read more

September 29, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
The premieres of Dexter and Californication on Sunday not only gave readers laughs and chills — they also busted Showtime’s viewership records by healthy margins.
Dexter’s Season 4 premiere was the network’s most watched show since it changed its ratings system five years ago, with 1.52 million people tuning in. That’s slightly more than the Season 3 finale (1.506 million) and 25 percent more than the Season 3 premiere (1.217 million)
Californication benefitted from its pairing with Dexter, scoring 821,000 viewers for its Season 3 premiere, or 57 percent more than its Season 2 premiere.

’80s heartthrob Rick Springfield dishes on his Californication guest role
September 16, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
After their success with a fictional rock music legend last season, the creators of Californication wanted to keep the ball rolling in Season 3. They put out calls for a real-life rock star to play a version of himself — a debauched, “twisted” version of himself, actually — and it didn’t take long to find the right guy for the job.
Rick Springfield, he of the tight jeans and soulful gaze, read for the part of one of Charlie’s clients and nailed it. The singer best known for “Jesse’s Girl” (named the No. 1 Karaoke song of all time by Rolling …read more
Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick hospitalized on Californication
September 9, 2009 by Jillian Cohan
Check it out, kiddos. That’s not Chuck Bass laid low by his nefarious shenanigans on the Upper East Side. No, no: it’s Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick in his guest role as Balt, a southern Cali college student, on the new season of Californication.
Balt reportedly has an obsession with all things vampire. Might his fascination with blood suckers have sent him to the hospital? I’ll never tell … so tune in to Showtime on September 27 for Season 3 of Californication.
xoxo
